After much soul searching I`ve taken the plunge and decided to apply for an IVA.

I`ve returned the A to A to Jones Giles last week and today sent all the paperwork that was requested.

Don`t really know what happens next.

I have an appointment at the Nat West tomorrow to open a current account(no overdraft).

All a bit embarrassing in actual fact.

Hi everhopeful and welcome to the forum.

You have picked an excellent team to deal with, highly recommended on here. I'm sure someone from Mel's team will be in touch soon to speak to you about this.

Not sure what you mean by A to A though?

Sorry about that.

Authority to Act.

Thanks, should have known really!

Once you have sent all your figures off, Mel's team will look at them and decide the best course of action for you.

If she accepts you for an IVA, then it shouldn't belong before a proposal is drawn up, and then a creditor meeting date set.

As long as there are no complications, it should just be a matter of weeks.

As to the bank, I take it Natwest are not linked to any of your creditors?

Otherwise, Co-op come highly recommended on here.

Hope not.

Nat West don`t have anything to do with the Halifax do they?

Nat West was the suggested bank to use by the lady I spoke to at Jones Giles and she was aware I have a debt to the Halifax,so should be OK.

No, they're nothing to do with the Halifax.

Natwest come recommended as well.

We were exactly where you are just a few weeks ago, we also opened a step account and had no problems, in fact walked out with account details in 15 mins. Just follow the advice and info that Melanie and her team provide and you should be sorted in no time, as for feeling embarrassed, well n need we are ok with it all now and very comfortable with the outcome that Melanie provided.

Good luck from us on your IVA

Hi. We felt exactly the same way but this forum is great. Everybody has made us feel a lot more relaxed about our situation. We sent our proposal back on Monday so we are just waiting to hear when our meeting will be. It is embarrassing to tell people we are setting up an IVA but I feel a lot better because we are finally doing something about our problems. Its easier to tell people that we are getting help then it was to explain every month that we couldn't pay our bills. I was surprised at how nicely Blackhorse took the news. The man was very understanding and said he'll put a note on the file so we don't get calls for the next month. Unfortunately Provident aren't quite as good. We've been told that they will keep coming to the house until they are paid. I still feel so positive about this situation. I know it sounds strange, but I feel the most relaxed I have in years.
