Hi,
I''m finally able to apply for my IVA whihc had to wait until my car credit was paid off (as id didn''t want them to take it away, as I need it) and was advised to move bank accounts as some of my debit is with the bank i currently use. I was going to swap to Natwest but see they are part of bank of scotland who i have a loan with. Will they be able to freeze my money or willit be safe. If this is the case what bank can i use that will safe?

Co-op cashminder comes highly recommended on forum if you've no credit with these.
Welcome to the forum too x

I opened an account with NatWest to begin with and I loved that account, the internet banking was the best but I had a credit card with RBS so I erred on the side of caution and opened a Co-op Cashminder with whom I had not financial links.
The account is very good but I preferred the NatWest Step account internet banking as it showed the balance including items in transit, which the Co-op internet banking doesn't. I either have to try and remember them all or get a balance enquiry from a cashpoint.

Who advised you that you had to delay the start of an IVA until you had paid off your car loan? What reasons were given for this?

I`ve opened a Yorkshire Bank `Readycash` account. That comes with a Maestro debit card and the internet banking is very good...All transactions and even authorised transactions are shown and deducted from your available balance immediately, all direct debits and the dates they are taken out are shown too.

If you can get an account with Nationwide, they are quite good. Internet banking updates transactions immediately, and they are now beginning to upgrade cashpoint only cards to Visa cards so you will be able to use it in shops and online.

I have a Nationwide CashCard Account, it is excellent, I had no problems obtaining this either.Co-op was also recommended to me.

I'm with them as well, and will be very happy to get the new card so I don't have to withdraw cash all the time.
