Ive been in my IVA for about a month now and have received a letter from my gas/elec company saying they are cancelling my accounts and giving me new ones, due to correspondance from my official receiver.
They have written off my debt ( there wasn't one ) only the usual monthly gas/elec bill and started my account from scratch.
I never asked this to be included in my IVA as its just a normal monthly bill, it was £76.
Ive just spoken to them and even they are confused by it.
Has anyone else had this?? Am I to expect all my normal household bills to be cancelled and reissued with new accounts, even though I have never missed any payments.

Is it British Gas by any chance? They do have a habit of doing this as several posters will testify.
I'm not aware of any IP who writes to the Utility companies unless that debt is being included in the IVA from the outset.
I've not had a problem with any of mine.
Are they keeping the account details the same?

Yes it is BG.
I spotted the duplicate accounts last night on my online account so rang to query it.
They have changed the account numbers too.
Oh well its their loss because I have never not paid a household bill. The accounts are zero now so that gives me a little bit of extra spend this month

I really don't know why they do it when there isn't a problem with the account.
I'm with Atlantic and have never had a problem with them at all.

I am with BG and posted on here recently, they closed mine and it had a credit which was eventually applied to the new one! In the process they changed my tariff to a standard one... meaning I was paying more per unit, I got this amended and recredited.
It dont stop there.. 3 weeks ago they setup the direct debit on my old account (pre IVA) so the payment failed, I called to explain their mistake and they were to call me to re-setup the DD but nothing! Called again today to do but now they are saying because im a new customer (im not) the monthly directly debit needs to be 118 per month, it was previously 77, and they will only drop to £98 or something! Bye bye BG!

That's awful!
They are their own worst enemy aren't they?

Why does none of the above NOT shock me?!?!?
BG just never get anything right, Im so glad we r not with them anymore.
When we moved into our current home - we had been given gas/elec bills to see if we could afford it - no problems.
We got our first monthly DD forms n they had doubled both what the previous people paid!
When I phoned to say I could not afford it n wanted it lowering n why.
I rudely got told "pay it or leave"! "Fine" I replied! Then a few wks later a rep came round n asked why we were leaving n politely told them why, he soon left! This was Scottish Power.

I wonder how many customers these companies lose these days? You'd think they would be glad of the business.

Most call centres these days couldn't organise a drink up in a brewery. Makes you wonder if the amount of money they save by hiring monkeys counteracts the loss of business to loyal long term customers.

The way British Gas are dealing with insolvencies at the moment is a nonsense - and made even worse by the fact that one of the major IP firms is apparently advising them. If I were a BG shareholder I would want a lot of questions answering.

I Am with Scottish Power they haven't mentioned anything I fin it surprising that utility bill companies even need to be told if you are up to date and don't miss payments. None of their business really
