Congratulations, I remember what a nice feeling it is!
If you want an official certificate of discharge you need to apply to the court where you were made BR, and it costs £60 plus £1 for subsequent copies. If you do get one, I would recommend getting a few copies as not all companies return the certificate.
I didn't get one though, I have used the printout from the Insolvency Service website showing that I was discharged. This stays on the register for 3 months from the date of discharge.
I've 'cleaned up' my credit files (well most of the accounts, I got bored!) by writing to my creditors asking them to amend the file to show either satisfied or partially satisfied, and to remove any defaults after my BR date.
If you have a look at my blog there are template letters on there.
Good luck x

Congratulations from me too! [:)] Hubby was discharged from BR last year [:)] Just counting down the monthly IPA until total freedom!
After 3 months the notice will fall off the insolvency register and your credit report will get updated. However, defaults will show 6 years from start of BR.
In the meantime, build up your credit rating with a mobile phone contract, bank account and believe it or not a credit card! Vanquis may approve you and as long as you clear the balance monthly then the high apr will be irrelevant.

Thanks everyone thats good to no, my ex husband should have been discharged too but on the insolvency register it states that 'discharge is suspended indefinitely' can anyone explain what that means please also if its anything to do with his nil tax code and non payment to moonbeever, baylifs won't be knocking on my door for payment or goods will they??

No, you won't have bailiffs knocking at the door so please don't worry about that.
The only reason that I know for discharge to be indefinitely suspended is failure to co-operate with the OR - do you know if he's had any problems with them?

Hi Skippy, no i don't but he has told me recently that he has gone back to paying tax on his wage and i do no his 'ipa' was for 36 months so he has 24 months still to go on that with paying moonbeever instead of tax so i wonder if thats anything to do with it, if he's not sorted the finaces out with moonbeever or the inland revenue like he should have done to enable him to carry on the nil tax coding procedure x

If he's paying an IPA it shouldn't make any difference to his discharge - I've got an IPA and I was discharged after 12 months. Also, he shouldn't be paying his tax to MB now that a new tax year has started.
