does havin an iva stop you getting a new job???

basically my husband is trying to get into an apprenticeship in an ideal job and i just wondered if having an iva would affect this?

It depends on the job. Some don't want to know about financial history, some do.

What industry is your hubby looking at?

I've changed jobs twice since starting my IVA, and have an interview on Thursday for another, first since finishing

Didnt effect me, as they didnt ask, I didnt tell em

The banking sector is pretty strict, as are some police forces but the majority of private companies aren't interested. 'have you ever been bankrupt' comes up on a lot of application forms these days - I've seen some asking about IVA's aswell - but thats not to say it would be a reason to decline the application (unless it specifically said you wouldnt be accepted)

hmm ... that's possibly in a grey area then ... best bet is to just ring them anonymously and ask them because if you search on the internet you see a mixed bag of peoples 'opinions' rather than getting it from the horses mouth :)

Hi
Just be aware that if your husband secures a job you will pay more into your IVA as your disposable income will increase.
Am I right in thinking that you are possibly using Cleardebt based on payments of 100 pounds per month ?

yeah andy thats right. if he finds a job our income remains the same as we wont receive housing benefit, working tax credit or as much child tax credit, so it works out not far off pound to pound.

Hi
That is fine then. As long as you are aware of how the payments in an IVA work
Good luck

i think i am aware!!! just a little confused with some people saying their payments are due to go up etc and some people saying they have been made to extend their iva for another year. just worried im going to get fobbed off and land back at minus square 100 again lol

Hi
You will be fine I'm sure. An IVA should give you a clear end date and stop your debts from increasing

Being in an IVA will not affect your husband's ability to join the Navy - but he will need to declare it at the initial stages and it may stop him from doing certain jobs within the forces which may require a higher level of vetting.
