Hi, I haven't posted too often but I have lurked and made a few social posts.

I was to go through my proposal this week and then look towards my creditors meeting.

Unfortunately, things didn't quite work out as I have split from my wife, my twenty something (not twenty of them LOL) kids decided to remain with me [:(], and due to a number of factors, I haven't enough surplus to make a reasonable offer to my creditors.

Anyway I had already considered BR and now find myself hurtling towards the court. I have moved across to the sister forum, but before I go I'd like to wish you all success in your future debt free lives.

I have gained a lot of confidence from reading posts from similarly affected good people on here and from those who have ome through the trials relatively sane and unbowed.

Good luck to you all.

Best of luck Dave but just because you are going bankrupt doesn't mean you get kicked off this site!

You can continue to post on both and your experiences will be helpful to anyone in financial trouble whether they go for an IVA, DMP or bankruptcy.

Hi Dave - sorry to read things haven't worked out the way you planned but glad to see you are taking the necessary steps all things considered.

Its great to read the forum posters have helped you along the way and I know you'll be well looked after on the sister forum - do pop on here every so often though and let us know how you're doing.

Best wishes,

Thank you Michael and Tina.

Michael, you were a great help to my estranged wife and she and I are indebted to you.

Tina, you were my first contact when I decided to do something about my dilemma. The team at MG's are inspirational and gave me hope and a guiding light when it felt there was none. The past few months have allowed me breathing space to reflect and decide a way ahead.

That breathing space is sometimes all that is needed.

Don't go! As Michael has said you're not kicked off the site - they haven't managed to get rid of me yet!

Seriously, please stay around. There are a few of us on here who have been BR, and Mel and the other professional experts are always around as well.

I'm sorry that things haven't worked out as you hoped, and I hope things improve for you in the future x

So long as you have made the right decision that is the main thing. Your inspirational post to me after I lost my dog gave me great comfort, and I am sure we will keep in touch. If we can help you in any way with the bankruptcy you only have to ask.

Thanks all

M, I draw no greater comfort than the fact that you and Michael are willing to continue to offer guidance and advice even though we are no longer, or never have been paying customers.

That, to me says everything about what type of people you are.

Kindness, patience and respect is what matters, it is those which define us more than anything. I could go out naked and penniless to walk and care for my beloved dogs and they would not notice nor care a jot. Money can't buy that.

Love to you all,

What a lovely post Dave.

I totally agree with you about your dogs. Although I'm not a dog person (my picture is a hint about my favourites!) I sometimes think I prefer animals to humans - their love is unconditional.

They certainly are, just cuddle up to them and have a good cry, they seem to understand.!!

Good Luck Dave, we are in the first early stages of applying for our IVA and this site is definatley helping us.

Sorry to hear of your split but as others have said do stay around your experience is bound to help someone else.

There are a few posters who have gone through the bankruptcy proceedings and maybe can assist you?

All the best x

Thank you all so kindly. I haven't jumped off the pier just yet, although with this heat I've been sorely tempted.

I actually prefer to post in here. It took me a while to pluck up the courage to come into the open about my finances. When I finally did, this forum offered me non-judgemental support and the advice to help me do something about it.

I don't feel too bad about the direction I am taking. It's a little scarey as I feel I've leaped over the two safety barriers to come face to face with the lions.

My marriage break-up was inevitable and I'm ok with it. Twenty five years, through what we thought were the most difficult of times we would ever face. I was in the Royal Navy for the majority of that and spent most of my time at sea, including during the obvious conflicts.

But the pressures of debt is different. It takes its toll to some extent on most relationships and the blame game is caustic. But we have managed to part on speaking terms, even though we haven't spoke harmoniously for the past couple of years.

It's now a case of saving as quickly as I can for my BR fees. I have to get over this hump and see what life I've been missing since I stuck my head in the sand.
