Anybody had run ins with these guys ?

Had a couple of letters through the post saying my debt has been sold on to these guys fairfax solicitors (from their website they specialise in recovering debt)from max recovery and they are now going to take legal action against me and deploy debt collection agents to my door.

Ive phoned them up and found them to be rude and combative, ive explained im 3 years into an IVA which they claim has failed and now want the debt, my IP has confirmed my IVA is still running and have sent Fairfax a fax twice now confirming its still active yet they say they havent recieved anything.

Its blantantly a scare tactic and im happy that im legally protected from these parasites, but just wanted any advice on what to do should they turn up at my door ? Im not the most calm person when it comes to confrontation and rather than give them a swift, sharp kick to the groin is there something i can do or say to get rid of them ?

Ask them to contact your IP company directly give them the phone number and put the phone down.

How awful, I'm sure one of the professionals will know what to advise you to do.

I sincerely hope they don't turn up at your door x

They don't often turn up, and on the rare occasions it has been on here that they have visited they are normally very polite.

If it does happen, have a copy of your chairmans report to show them.

Hopefully it won't come to that.

If they turn up phone the police to say that you feel threatened by these clowns.

Dont let them into your house, they cannot force there way in.

Failing that a cricket bat may come in handy!!(just joking about the cricket bat!!)(maybe)

Why would they think that your IVA has failed - this is very unlike Max Recovery to get something wrong. Are you up to date with all of your payments?

sorry for the late reply, been busy past week.

yep, im up to date with all my payments, ive spoken to Grant Thornton several times since Fairfax have started pestering me and my IP confirms that the IVA is still current. What is worrying me is that Fairfax are denying all knowledge of G.T. faxing them across the details of my IVA twice - someone is lying to me. And if its my IP then god knows what they are up to, i was supposed to have my yearly appraisal on the IVA this month and if its failed and been a breakdown in Grant Thorntons admin then im screwed.

GT will have good contacts at Fairfax solicitors, so don't worry and let them deal with it for you.
