Hi
A credit card is handy but you will get used to not having one. Remember you can get pre paid credit cards whilst in an IVA

I find my Debit card is just as thrilling especially knowing the postman is going to bring me a letter demanding payment when I use it.

I had to buy a new wallet when I got rid of my cards as I had so many they had pulled all of the pockets out of shape.

lol, that sounds like my purse. If its not the credit and store cards ripping the seams, its the endless receipts shoved into the pockets!

I still have loads of plastic - loyalty cards, prepaid cards, NI card, debit and cashpoint card, AA.

The difference is that I don't have to worry about demands dropping through the letter box.

Great feeling!

I have to say that i don't like the fact that debit cards don't provide the same level of protection as credit cards do.

I couldn't find anything on most of the prepay sites to say that they protect you against dodgy sellers and various other scenarios.

I'm sure someone can clear that up though...

I've got to admit - I've got use to using cash for everything, but once in a while I too miss my credit cards (although as everyone says I don't miss those statements at the end of the month popping through the letter box)[;)]

I haven't used mine for so long - there was a really awful moment in September when I was trying to withdraw money on my Virgin card and it was rejected - that was the beginning of the end!

I miss what they could get - the ("proper") holidays and new clothes. But love using a debit card and not having an overdraft (except that massive one I owe hsbc!)

My debit card is provided with my bank account at Natwest which gives me the same protection as a credit card i think.
It is a Visa debit card.

stormsylv mine account and card is the same, I am not sure about the protection you get with it, I very rarely use it on the internet apart from paying my rent, I prefer to look round shops and touch and feel stuff before buying it, you just dont get the same when doing it on the internet. Plus because I am a little on the short side (4ft 10 inches) I need to try clothes on etc.

The Cashplus pre-paid card does offer purchase protection as part of the standard package.

I have never needed it, but it is nice to know that it is there.
