Hi everyone, this is my first time posting, however, I've been reading this Forum for a while and I've found it immensely helpful [:)]
After much deliberation and struggling I’ve finally come to the decision of applying for an IVA. The agency dealing with my case has been most helpful and supportive and I’m going through the process at the moment. Apart from the huge guilt of letting my creditors down, my big concern was that people, including my work would find out about my IVA. For the purposes of my job I have to undergo a CRB check. I was also really worried that the IVA may show up on there. After a lot of research my mind was starting to be put at rest; I realised that the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check is just that *criminal* and being in debt is not a crime. I was just starting to get over that shame and embarrassment of the IVA (I don’t mean any offence to anyone by saying that, but this is something that I’ve really, really struggled with)..... That was until I found out about the Insolvency Register. I cried my eyes out when I found out about it and the prospect of all of my details including D.O.B and address being made public makes me feel like I am a criminal. With my job these’s a few pages on the web about me and the rest of the team, having won awards for work etc. When bored in the office, we often Google our own and each other’s names to see which entries come up. I am absolutely terrified that if the IVA is approved, one of my colleagues may search for me and my entry on the Insolvency Register will come up. I feel sick to my stomach. I was just wondering if anyone had experience of this happening; if you search for you name/ area is the Insolvency Register displayed on Google? Also does anybody know if employers search this Register? In your experience, do many people know of this Register? I didn’t know it existed until I visited this Forum. Any advice would be greatly appreciated (sorry to ramble on!) x
