Hi and welcome to the forum. Take a look at www.iva.com for a list of companies and some reviews of these, I'm not sure if they're listed on there but they may be.

Did you request contact from Baines & Ernst?

It is always advisable to take the impartial free advice from at least 2 or 3 companies.

Hi Phillip and welcome to the forum.

Have you filled in any sort of form? I only ask that as I am not aware of B&E cold calling people.

They are actually a company that will pass on your details to their sister company, Blair Endersby. You will probably have to pay a fee for this.

However, they are a reputable company.

I would recommend that you speak to a few more companies before making a decision. Visit www.iva.co.uk and give one or two a ring for free and impartial advice.

Welcome Philip!

Baines & Ernst are quite a large company, but as Kallis3 says, they won't be listed on iva.com as they do not handle IVAs themselves.

Search Google for some reviews and a couple of alternatives, and don't make any payments until you've decided for sure.

Good luck.

Hi philip.1,

I've no comment to make about the firm mentioned other than to say that they are large and well-known.

As a rule of thumb however I'd say that the best starting point is to research the companies that provide the service you are looking for and then select one upon your findings.

Forums such as this contain many stories from people who wished that they had not accepted the first offer of help made to them.

Hi Philip.1, I would echo what the others say and recommend you speak to a couple more companies to compare what you are being told and to ensure you are comfotable moving forward.

Jan has given a good comparison website to look at as well as having a look on here for comanies that come highly recommended.

Regards,

I'll comment on them! Your first 2 payments go to them for fees to pass you across to Blair Endersby. They will give you a telephone interview before they pass you over and they will try and get your repayments as high as possible so they get more fees. You can go straight to Blair Endersby without a need to pay the fee. I am in no way recommending BE either though and I would suggest you contact a few companies like the others have suggested.

The IP will decide what your final monthly payment will be not the broker who passes you on. I went through a broker and had I not I would not have had the courage to go direct to an IP. They where very helpfull and reassuring.

I had a DMP with Bains and Ernst, I found it fine no problems at all, when I had to change to an IVA they passed me across to Blair Endersby and as I was with them for the DMP waived their fee, so I have no complaints at all.
