I should be very happy, My IVA has finally come to an end and I'm FREE ...Yippee. But wait - what's that that has come in the mail today - it's addressed to my wife and it's a demand for the balance £900+ on the Council Tax for the year I went into IVA 2004.
Since IVA proceedings were started the Council have NEVER once asked my wife to make payments given that the Council Tax is in joint names. Obviously now that they have received the few pence in the pound payout from my settlement - they have suddenly wakened up to the fact that there is still money outstanding which they may pursue from my wife. Can they do this? Would not this debt be statute barred. It dates from April 2004.

Hi
I think that they can chase this I'm afraid, the full amount due less the amount that they received from the IVA. Not sure about the statute barred situation though, it may be worth exploring

Is there anyone else who may have a view on whether this debt is statute barred?
