While checking my phone bill online today, I found out about a scheme called O2 Recycle. They basically buy your old phones and there is even a freepost label to print off. It's open to everyone, not just O2 customers.

I was hugely surpried by how much they are willing to pay and needless to say am all set to post mine off tomorrow. Up to £67 for my old Blackberry - they will deduct for any damage but looking forward to the check! [:)]

Don't be too surprised when you get a mail saying that the phone isn't in "the best of condition" and they then make a significantly lower offer. I got a final offer of £12.00 for a Blackberry 8700 curve that was 2 years old and pretty much mint as far as I was concerned! Make sure you record the serial number and take photos of the phone (on a dated newspaper) prior to sending it off.

It's great I have sent to off but not to O2. Ig you google mobile phone recycler comparison and click on one of the links, they check them all and tell you who will give you the most money.

We have found mobilephoneexchange.com the best and have recently sent two off. We have opted for the argos voucher. You get a couple of quid more and we can put them aside for Christmas.

My money is going into the Xmas pot too...last Christmas was hard but I felt so proud of myself come January. The first one in a long time that I didn't rack up debt to pay for! It felt like a big lesson learnt.

There are lots of these companies about. I have used several over the last few years, and by far (in my opinion) the best in terms of pay out speed and price was Mazuma. They even took an old broken iPhone which had been dropped in the bath and paid over £100 for it. exactly as they quoted online.

Would definitely recommend shopping about though.

They'd pay me to keep mine!!

My daughter has used Mazuma and she got £35 for a really old phone and the money came through really quickly.

Some of my old ones belong in a museum!

If you have a CEX store nearby, they can be really good and give you cash for the phone, ive traded in loads of phones over the years, the benefit for me is im a gamer as well so i can trade the phone to getting some second hand games, that way i don't waste the money, so its a swap and the games keep me occupied on those cold winter nights.

The best one that I've used is Simply Drop, which is linked to the Post Office. They also recycle MP3 players and cameras and pay really.

anyone used RPC recycle? Been looking on the mobile valuer website (the one linked to that popular site with annoying bloke!) and they are quoting best price for a couple of old phones... dont want to get sucked in and send them off if others have bad experience?

There are price comparison sites out there for companies who buy used mobiles. I had always used Mazuma in the past, but wasn't impressed with the amount they were offering this time around - found the price comparison site and was directed to another buyer who doubled Mazuma's offer. Freepost bag included and paid direct into bank account. Can't be bad!

I found Simply Drop to be much more generous than some of the better known ones and they paid up really quickly as well. I had the money paid into my Paypal account.

I must admit that I usually keep my previous one back as a spare just in case.
