Our tv has packed in and although the guy has said it's knackered he can fix the motherboard but it will be £150 - £200. A brand new one of the same size is only £380 so we don't know what to do for the best.
We don't even have the money to have it fixed at the moment but is it too early to ask to miss a month of our IVA? We understand if it is although we don't go out and my husband especially misses it. HE has just recently cancelled Sky which was a big deal for him. We never built up a contingency as we needed our boiler and garage roof fixing just before the IVA started totaling around £1000.
Always seems to be something...

Hi,
I do not think this will be a problem. Give your IP a call I am sure they will be sympathetic

It's always worth asking - you should certainly forward your receipts and unexpected bills to your IP and informing them of any increased or unusual expenditure, just so they know what's happening.
The worst they can say is no! Best of luck.

Thanks, am I right in thinking though that you can only have two payment breaks over the term of your iva? If so, I would rather do without incase something major happens in the future. Hopefully not.

Hi
I would consider maybe a used tv via ebay or similar if you can, rather than asking for a payment break.

Seems a reasonable request to me. With very low social and entertainments budgets allowed by creditors - a TV can be an absolute lifeline during an IVA and is relatively cheap.
I would try and get your hubby's SKY back on as well. From my own experience, liiving with a husband without Sky Sports is worse than serving a prison sentence in solitary confinement.

If you dont ask, you dont get!!
Its always worth asking. You have to have some form of entertainment. Five years is a long time.
Good luck.

I agree that you should ask and hopefully they will agree to it. We certainly couldn't be without a TV or Sky. We rarely go out so that is our entertainment.
