Hi all
Firstly I would like to wish you all a very happy new year and may 2011 be the year of dreams come true or at the very least let bad things turn good, as we all deserve [:)]
The end of our 2010 (literally) was our washing machine packed up yesterday and the car needed 2 new tyres.
The start of our 2011 is to say has been expensive it has also been great.

Through being disciplined over the last 3 years (thank you IVA) we have bought and paid for our new washing machine (and got a super deal) and bought and paid for the tyres the car needed.

All I can say is thank god for our continency fund, had we not been putting some of it away we would not have been able to purchase these essentials.

So to anyone just starting an IVA or midway through it please try and put alittle aside each month because it makes life so much easier to deal with when unfortunate things happen (unfortunate tends to cost!)

So once again heres wishing you all a very happy new year

Hi Barb and a Happy New Year to you too. Glad you've got your new washing machine and a good deal too and also your tyres, I'm going to use some of my contingency tomorrow and look for a 2nd small chest freezer, it is important to put some away I do agree for unforeseen things x

This is a brilliant example of someone who has budgeted frugally over the last three years to build up a contingency fund, in the knowledge that this probably would be relied upon at some stage. Well done, and at least your IVA is now over half way done.

is the continency fund part of your income and expenditure? I have not got one and my car needs new tyres?

Hi stobatron - I have a car maintenance allowance of £20 and a general contingencies allowance of £50. I think this must be a fairly standard amount as they were suggested by my ip.

I too have a car maintenance and contingency fund, it might be worth you re-visiting your I&E and having a look at this with your IP. x
