I have been contacted by Jefferson Hobbs offering to save me a huge reduction on my IVA. I am struggling to keep up with my current payments and can they really help? Is bankruptcy the answer?

Ignore this company, they are only out to make money from you. They cannot possibly know your circumstances and are just chancers.

If you are having problems, then please speak to your IP. If bankruptcy is an option, you can do it yourself without resorting to paying someone to do it for you.

No JH, in all probability, cannot assist! Thay cannot offer any reduction without knowing the facts of your situation and are shooting in the dark !!!

As for current repayment levels, please speak to your IP.

All they want is to charge you a large amount of money which you cannot afford.

as you will see from the post list this is the second post of this nature today. Don't touch with a barge pole.

Rather than binning the letter - why don't you call them to see how they are going to provide you with the saving they promise. We all know what the answer will be - but I'd be keen to learn how they engineer their sales pitch, and importantly what they would intend to charge you for an assisted bankruptcy.

Then you can make up your own mind what you think.

Personally i would put the letter in the rabbit cage, childish i know but very symbolic

I still do not like companies that get their business from trawling the Insolvency Register and contacting vulnerable people and trying to get them to go bankrupt when their IVAs may be working perfectly well.

They could end up in even worse trouble.

Destroy any mail of this type or send to your IVA company. We had a run of this type of letter from various ‘companies’ during the first year of our IVA at the stage when we were least knowledgeable and therefore at our most vulnerable. Some looked very professional and convincing while others looked as though they had been run up in someone’s back room on a very ancient home computer. One predatory person descended to the depths of putting in red at the top of a letter that we needed to phone the number provided urgently because they had to ‘give some very disturbing news about a very serious matter’. There was no indication of the subject but out of curiosity as much as anxiety my other half rang only to find out it was someone trying persuade us to dispense with our IVA and go bankrupt. Unfortunately he forgot to key 141 so the individual then of course had our telephone number and had the audacity to start pestering us at home. However he did admit, when asked, that he obtained our details from the register. Luckily, once I had given him a piece of my mind regarding his methods and stated I was more than happy with our IVA he didn’t bother us again!

How's about putting the leaflets back in the post, addressed to the companies concerned, with no stamp on (and of course, with our details removed).
