I was chatting to my sister and it turns out her and her hubby have been on DMP for 5 yrs and will be finished in another 3yrs.(the IVA got refused) The orignal company informed them about a year ago that their debt was now being handled by another company. When my sister looked at the new comapny name it was just the old name but the letters rearranged!! Then recently she received a letter from the orignal named company offering them a CREDIT CARD!!! surely this cant be right? Bearing in mind this company had been trying to get them an IVA in the first instance because of credit card debt. My sister was speechless that a debt company was actually waving a credit card at them. I wondered if it was a test to see if they took the bait..which they didnt I might add they were just really shocked by it! Has anyone else come across a debt comapany doing this?

Which company was this as a matter of interest - and thank goodness she only has three years left on her plan.

I hadn't heard of this before. Some of these companies are part of a huge corporate structure with lots of fingers in lots of pies so I'm not entirely surprised. She can ask to opt out of any further sales/promotional marketing if she finds it a temptation. But she sounds like she's right on track and knows her own mind! Congrats too them both x

Baines and Ernst and Blair Endersby are sister companies. The former do debt management plans and if you are suitable for an IVA then they pass you to Blair Endersby.

Surprised they sent you details of a credit card though.

I can confirm this person will have been offered a pre-paid debit card NOT a credit card.We do not offer credit cards for the obvious reasons.
A lot of people do find pre-paid debit cards of value - as indicated by the previous poster, many companies offer these.
