Hi, i am having a proposal/creditors meeting in 3 days, how long will it take (if approved) for the IVA to begin?

Hello.
If your IVA is approved at the meeting, the IVA begins straight away.
Good luck!

Good luck Scott!!
I wish mine was just 3 days away! I've got to wait until 16th Feb! Not sure i can cope much longer with creditors calling me all the time wanting money out of me!!
What is the best way to tell them your current situation? cause surely they are aware because the proposal is sent to them. [:(]

Hi
The calls will go on for a while, if you choose to answer them just give date of meeting and IP's name and contact no. After all it doesn't matter how they try and extract money from you they cannot affect the outcome of your creditors meeting. This is the hard bit for you now, but stick with it and all will be well

You can have a prepared speech ready informing them that you are going for an IVA and then put the phone down. You can refuse to answer the security questions, they cannot continue with the call if you do that. You could change your number and go ex directory or you could ignore the calls.
It doesn't always matter that they have had the proposal - these are call centres who phone you, not the people that matter and they are just out to try and boost their minimum wage by getting you to make payments.
Don't let them bully you!

I love listening to my wife speaking to call centres -- she always refuses to answer the security questions, rightly saying how does she know THEY are who they say they are!

Best way to deal with them!

I always remember (sorry -- bit off topic) when I worked for a secret squirrel outfit, I was making telephone enquiries to a bank and the guy at the end of the phone very sensibly queried how could he know I really was phoning from the organisation I was saying I was from. I said, simple, I will hang up and you can call me --- then you will know who you called. "Good idea", says he, "Now, what's your number?" DOH !

Good luck Scott1. If its any consolation our telephone calls stopped shortly after the proposal was posted out!! I didn't receive any today and hubby only received two at work compared to the nonstop ringing we were getting. Only one letter today too, from Mercers threatening visit from debt collectors-get with the program Mercers!!
