Don't know if this is correct or not -- have any Natwest customers hear any whispers?:

I have just heard that an IVA'er who has a mortgage with Natwest, has been told by them that, once the property is sold and mortgage redeemed, Nat west will NEVER entertain them as a customer again! Apperently new policy is to avoid ex BR's and IVA'ers with a vengeance!

Mind you -- it's their loss, as ex BR's and IVA'ers are more money savvy than many of their "standard" customers. I did hear somewhere else of a current account being shut because they discovered the cutomers IVA !! Ooo -- eerr [:(]

Oooh - I really hope that's not true...I've just opened an Natwest Step Account as was advised via my IVA company that they accepted people in an IVA. They never asked the question when I opened the account so I really hope I don't end up having to open another one somewhere else

HSBC + First Direct - tend to request closure of accounts once they find out about the IVA

I've not heard of anyone having a problem with Natwest bank accounts. The only ones who cause trouble are HSBC and First Direct.

I am with Natwest, and when they did an annual review a couple of months ago I mentioned the IVA when they were trying to get me to upgrade my account and the guy just said fine no problem. I hope they don't close them down it is stressful enough having to get new bank accounts etc without the choices being even more limited, it is as if they are trying to get us all to take monthly charged bank accounts, soon free ones will only be available to bad payers so they can get lots of overdraft charges etc.

I don't think they will be closing accounts. I was with NatWest, I had three accounts (two with overdrafts ;-)) and now when my IVA was approved they removed the overdrawn accounts but left the other one so in theory I could be using it...but i won't! Of course the person who closed my overdrawn accounts knew I'm in IVA now.

I don't think Natwest will be closing any accounts. You will be fine Susie.

I enjoy my Natwest account even though it's basic it's far superior to my days with the HSBC, I always feel valued when I go in the branch. x

Ditto lesley, i actually enjoy gonig in to the branch and doing my online banking, mind you that could also be because i don't owe any money LOL.

If natwest are going to avoid mortgage borrowers it doesn'tmean they are the account holders.
