Yay that's fantastic! I'm just about to pay my 2nd payment next week, feels good! I haven't managed to squirrel anything away yet but did have a very expensive June so hoping July will be better!

Well done on your 2nd payment and your tin of spare monies.
It's a good feeling to get through each month in the black and although I'm 42 months in today I still like the feeling of being in control .x

Hi everyone time does fly. my last payment is in 6 days time, but must admit this last week seems to be dragging. when i started my iva i got a money tin from home bargins saved any £2 coins i got, the tins are sealed you can only open them with a tin opener.after my first year i opened the tin and counted out over £400 pounds.they hold about £500 when full. so i used the savings on a holiday.
i found this a great way to save little amounts over a period of one year. you should give it a try if you can resist reaching for the can opener.
in my iva i had a £50 contingency amonth which i saved each month which came in handy when the car needed a M.OT.or repairs or washer going down etc. so keep saving keep believing you will get there before you know it.

Hi Phoenix, I did that last year and saved my spending money for a holiday my MIL funded for us. It is surprising how much you can accumulate in the tin.
My Mum just got me another tin, this one is huge and I'm saving now for January when I'm 50!

Hi Lesley your right it does soon build up. i have one of the huge tins . im filling up a smaller tin at the moment. have you ever had a weak monent and opened one midway through saving.to my shame i have lol! a moment of weakness im affraid it was my 3rd year in my iva could not find the can opener so used a hammer and screwdriver felt good at the time.

Even now out of the IVA I still have my tins lined up on the side - any loose change at the end of the week goes into them ! I am almost at the top of one tin and would expect to see over £100 in it when it gets counted !
Even after the IVA finishes your mind stays trained on saving and budgeting - it really does help to focus you and you do appreciate the finer things in life !
I still withdraw my weekly cash amounts and use these for fuel and food - what's left goes towards a takeaway once a fortnight !
I have also continued to fill in surveys and gather vouchers etc, and have undertaken some mystery shopping visits for free meals and small cash sums ! There's lots of ways to get a little extra if you search the internet !
