i am due to marry my girlfriend in September and want to know if this will affect my repayments. She had nothing to do with my IVA, i didnt even know her then. I dont want her earnings taken into account as that would not be fair on her.

Hi Martin,

Your IP will need to look at your income and expenditure for the simple reason that you may be sharing costs. However, as long as she can pay her share of the household expenses there should be no need to check her income or ask her any questions.

Congratulations!

Congratulations from me as well.

She hasn't benefited from your debt so I think you will just have to prove that you are both paying your fair share of household expenses. Her disposable income should be her own.

Thanks to you all for putting my mind at ease. She does know about the IVA, but it didnt stop her saying yes.
Once again thanks for the information, very much appreciated, and good luck to you all.

Have you been co-habiting for some time? If so, there is no real reason why your IVA ought to be affected due to your marriage.
