Just wanted to say hi and thanks to everyone who posts on here for their info.[:)]

I just wanted to know in all of your experience, how long did it take you all to get from initial phone call to the date of the creditors meeting? Everything with my IVA seems to be taking an age!!

Sorry if I've posted in the wrong place or if this has been answered somewhere before.

Hi and welcome
It can vary quite a lot.
I have seen IVAs agreed in six weeks from first enquiry to creditors meeting, others have gone on for over a year. It really depends on paperwork and information as these are the only points generally that hold cases up

Hi there,
From my initial call, it took 6 weeks exactly till Mine was approved at the creditor meeting. Bearing in mind, I don't have a mortgage, am single and don't earn overtime etc etc so Mine was probably farily Straight forward.
Good Luck with it :)

Hi Chocolatefireguard, welcome
Mine was 11 weeks however delay was caused by a creditor who would not confirm outstanding balance, and once signed proposal returned to IP 16 days to creditors meeting. Good luck, do let us know how you get on

Mine was 10 weeks. If my company had been a little more swift it would of been 7 weeks. All depends on your circumstances.

Mine took a while but I had to remortgage in the initial process to free up disposable income. Others I know vary but a good guess is 8-12 weeks.

So being 9 weeks in with no proposal yet, does seem a little too long? We have no unusual circumstances, and have not delayed in getting paperwork to the company. We do have a mortgage, but we are not self employed or get overtime or anything like that.

Might be worth speaking directly to the IP acting for you and asking at which stage you're at now.

Welcome from me as well. It does vary but usually it's 6-8 weeks so I'd speak to your IP.

Which company are you with.

Love the name by the way!

Should be done within a two month window - but can be done quicker if there is a need for urgency so long as all of the paperwork is with the IP.

Thanks everyone. I have been with the CCCSVA but I think that their workload is so heavy at the moment that every step is getting delayed by a couple of weeks. They have been nothing but apologetic and are extremely nice when I phone, but we have made the decision to change company's. I understand now when people say it's a 5-6 year relationship and you must be happy with who you are with, which is why we have decided to take a backward step in the process to make sure we feel comfortable for the next 6 years.

What happens in the interim- between the first phonecall, and the acceptance?

Myself and partner are in the process of gathering our paperwork- with Melanie Giles- who have been brilliant.
I cancelled all my direct debits on Friday, and I cant help but feel worried with what will happen between now, and when it hopefully goes through

Hi. Once the creditors miss the payments coming in they will phone to see if there is a problem. Many people ignore the calls and rely on a mobile for friends and family to contact them for a few weeks. some answer the calls and just state that ai IVA is being prepared and give them the IP's details. Don't get into any discussion regarding payments etc. Whatever the call centres say isn't worth listening to (except "we will put calls on hold for 10 days").
