I understand that you need to meet your IP in person at some point in the IVA process to sign documents. Is this correct? If this is the case, I would not be in a position to have anyone to my home address would this be able to be got round?
Thank you

I've never spoken to my IP let alone met them! I believe this is only compulsory if you are self-employed. If it is required by your particular IP, you could always go to them or arrange to meet in a coffee shop.

Melanie Giles is a regular poster on here and seems very popular with her clients. Pick up the phone and give a few companies a call, and get a feel for who you might get along well with.

You would only be required to meet your IP if you are self employed. Speak to a few companies to make sure you are comfortable with the people deaing with your IVA.

Paul, I am unable to meet an IP at home as no-one knows my situation. Therefore an IP turning up would be an interesting meeting.

You do not have to meet an IP. The vast majority of us deal with everything by phone, email and letters.

I assume then Ruth that you live with others and intend to keep them out the loop on whats happening, thats why I asked. Are you currently up to date with all payments? I only ask because during the process of setting up an IVA its very likely that you will be bombarded with phone calls and letters regarding payments, and if you are trying to keep it a secret from others it may not be as easy as you think. Is it family you live with?

I've met with my IP but only on social occasions such as the Frugal friends meets we have, usually one in the summer and one at Christmas time. My IP is Melanie Giles, she posts on here and I also teach so it might be worth talking with Melanie's teach as one of your choices. Up to you though - do go with who you feel is right for you, you'll know.

I've never met or spoken to my IP Ruth and I don't think that this is unusual. I have to say that if I were starting again I would seriously consider going with Melanie Giles because she sounds very professional and lives in the real world x (having said that I don't have any problems with my IVA company its just that I don't know them)
