got an unexpected letter from tax credits people saying i owe back money .dont agree with it .but what happens if they want it back .

You will need to firstly dispute it with HMRC if you are not happy and then if you lose an appeal you will have to speak to your IP about it.

Have a chat with your IP. They can advise what will happen if you need to pay the money back.
