I am an HGV driver. I only drive lorries. I do not hold the operators licence and i need this job to pay my bills. Please could you tell me if going bankrupt would affect this job. If it does is it best to go through with an IVA application.

Hi Kevin - why don't you speak to two or three professional debt advisors for advice about all the options open to you. Our experts come highly recommended and
www.iva.com is also a great place to look. You may also be able to find some information from your licensing body's website. x

Hi Kevin and welcome to the forum. Check your contract of employment, I wouldn't think your job would be affected by bankruptcy, but please check before you go down that route.
As the others have posted, it would be worth you taking expert advice to make sure going bankrupt is the best option for you.

Going bankrupt or being in an IVA won't stop you driving lorries for a living!

We actually had to change the bank account just into my name and have his wage paid into it for 5 years and absolutley no come backs at all even from the bank and a wage beng paid in his name. I really dont think it has any bearing at all, enquire about an IVA rather then bankruptcy and see if that is any good for you.

Kevin. I drive HGV's and going bankrupt or into an IVA should have no effect on your job whatsoever.
I know of a few lads at our company who have taken that route, you just carry on as you have been.
I guess you might have to open another bank account which we did for our IVA but nobody needs to know why you have opened another one.
I take it your just on p a y e ?
Im no expert but its ALWAYS important to get proper sound advice from a good company before you decide to do anything!!!
DO NOT RUSH INTO ANYTHING YOUR NOT SURE ABOUT, NO MATER HOW DESPERATE YOU ARE. BEEN THERE!
Best of luck mate.
