Hi All,
My IVA was started in 2005, completed in 2008 and has now passed the 6 years from acceptance.
Recently I’ve been tidying up my credit file with the 3 main agencies. Thankfully there is no sign of the IVA on any of them!
My question is, regarding CAHOOT who are showing a default from 2008. The actual account is showing satisfied, but in the little coloured boxes the red defaults are showing up. Will this still have a negative effect on my file even though its showing satisfied with a nil balance?
If so I will write to CAHOOT, but I haven’t actually got a completion cert, although I do have final review papers, my IP told me some time ago that there was no such thing as a completion cert. Is this the same thing?

Hi and welcome

You should have a letter telling you that you have successfully completed your IVA. It is a copy of this that you need to send to Cahoot and tell them to remove the default.

Thanks Kallis3,

So does anyone know if having a default showing even though the account states settled/satisfied will have a negative effect to lenders?

A default will probably have a negative effect but can't say for definite.

One may not be too bad but of course until you apply you won't know.

You could try a Vanquis credit card - they are usually good for those of us with a less than perfect credit rating.
