I am about to complete 5 yrs IVA in Dec after undertaking an extra year due to their being no equity in my home. I have been approached by someone wanting to buy my home. I am very tempted as whilst it will still leave me with no equity, financially I would be better off renting with my boyfriend as this would dramatically reduce my expenses. I am currently with Grant Thornton but I am struggling to get anyone to respond to me either by phone or email. This is an opportunity that I would not like to miss. Does anyone know if it is possible for me to sell the property and is there some kind of hold with the land registry. These are questions that I am struggling to get Grant Thornton to answer. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
You can try emailing Karol who works for GT via this link:
ivacustomerservices@uk.gt.com and ensure that "IVA Forum" is all that is entered in the subject line of the email
She has been instrumental in helping a lot of GT's clients on here.
The restriction is only that you cannot sell the property without the IP's permission. I'm sure if you explain this to GT they will be able to help you.

Thanks Jan, I've just send an email to Karol with fingers crossed that she will be able to help. I'm finding it quite scarey now that I am getting close to the end and am keen for nothing to go wrong. Really hoping 2012 is the year I can lift my head back up and start to rebuild my life. It's been a long road.
Thanks for your support [:)]

As the equity has already been dealt with by the extra year in the IVA I see no reason why GT couldnt have told you when you 1st asked that selling up was fine.
Hopefully Karol will confirm this shortly for you.

Received confirmation today from GT that yes I am due to move to final completion once I complete the next 2 payments. They have also confirmed that there is no reason why I cannot sell my house. If the sale completes before I get the final completion letter and I make a profit, then this would have to got to IVA. Based on sale price this is unlikely but instead will pay off mortgage and cover majority of costs associated with sale. Really pleased with the result just hope it all goes through.
Thanks Karol for promting a quick reply.
