Hello everyone! Hope you are all well?

I haven't been on here in some time, well since I completed my IVA early through a F&F, thanks to my partner and mum who offered the cash to get me out of the IVA because of my poor health and job insecurity.

As an update, I am finally living my life without the antidepressants, I have paid my partner back and half way through paying my mum back, I have a new, more secure job and my partner and I have been living together now for a year - there were no issues in us getting a tenancy, I was just upfront with the letting agency and with help from the ICO (yes I had to go down that line) my credit file is finally updated accordingly so things are looking up! So much so that we have even got a little holiday planned this year! It's 3 years in the waiting :-)

Now I know I only gravitate to these boards when I have a question, which I apologise for [:I] but I do have a couple regarding living after an IVA!

1. We love the house we are in, our landlord has already said if we want to buy it we can but in the meantime we can continue to rent from him. Given my IVA won't drop off my file for another 3 years, even though it's settled and the way the market is these days, do we have any hope in obtaining a mortgage with anyone in the next year?

2. What can I be doing in the meantime to fix my credit rating?

Thank everyone!

Hi Lusso, nice to see you.

As regards your credit rating you need to contact all three credit agencies and get a copy of your record. If there are any defaults registered after the date of IVA acceptance then you need to write those creditors enclosing a copy of your completion letter and tell them to remove those defaults.

Speak to Ryan, one of our experts who has helped several posters get mortgages. His details can be found under the 'Ask a Question' link on the left hand side of the page.
