A relative has received a demand for an alleged over payment of Tax Credits from HMRC, which they'd like repaying by March. They have an IVA which is currently half way through. Can a government debt be added to an IVA?

Hi and welcome to the forum, do ask your relative to speak directly with their IP to discuss this furtner, if it can't be added would they be able to negotiate to pay it off over a period of timem? x

You will need to raise this with the IP and provide them with the documentation - hopefully the debt can be dealt with in the terms of the IVA or under a separate agreement that will allow the IVA to continue untils its conclusion.

Not if it relates to a period after the IVA was agreed by creditors. Best that they seek advice from their own IP on this matter.
