Hi guys not been on for a while , so hope all are well. nice to see some completions amonst you.
i have a mortgage with HSBC, my husband disappeared 2 years ago and I have been managing the mortgage alone since then and have been in IVA fo 18 months.
At the final stage of divorce but I have to release him from the mortgage, by reapplying for a mortgage in my sole "iva blotted" name.
What are my chances ? If I can't get the mortgage, may the bank insist I sell up when they re aware of my IVA ?(the mortgage has not been affected by the IVA)
wish me luck

Sorry you have had a difficult time of it. Advice is required from a mortgage broker - your circumstances are difficult and specialist advice is required to make sure you take the correct action.

We do have a mortgage broker now on the forum - if look at the Experts page which shows all the contact details and search for Ryan - his details are there and he will be able to offer some advice and may even be able to help you. He has helped a number of us on the forum and successful mortgage applications have been achieved by him.

Good luck !

Hi Natmac,

Sorry to hear that you are having problems.

You might have problems releasing your husband from the mortgage and I can't see you being able to take on a mortgage in your sole name.

You could speak to Ryan via the 'Ask a Question' link and see what advice he gives.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks guys,

the irony is thus, I can afford the mortgage on my own, even on the iVA. I think bank criteria however will not permit in my sole name.

I seriously need to get my divorce finalised though because at the moment, he has agreed that he will come out of the mortgage without taking an equity share and I dont want him coming back and making demands against the property in the future.

Will have a chat with Ryan , see what he says and come back to you all x
