Ive always been under the impression that no one needs to find out about an IVA , but the more i read the more i see that it really becomes public knowledge. Am i right in saying that on completion that your certificate goes to your local county council? if so why would this be if the council is not a creditor. Also is there any way that your details would not be published anywhere. staying as private as possible would be a goal of mine . Also does your details appear anywhere else other than the insolvency website ie stubbs gazzette or any other websites

I've never heard about the County Council being told - why would they?

Never heard of this either.... it used to be logged with County Court, but I don't beleive it is anymore. Could you be confusing the County Council with the County Court? Maybe one of the experts can advise.

As far as I am aware the only "public" place the details are displayed is on the insolvency register. Generally the only people who look there are in the industry or insolvent themselves.

There is no reason for the council to be told and I am sure they are not unless they are a creditor. They should have no reason to check the register either.
The only public register is on the Insolvency Site. Other than creditors the only people to be notified are your mortgage provider and secured loan company if you have them.

Hi totheteeth. The general consensus is correct. Your certificate of due completion will not be sent to the county council however it will be sent to the county court and your creditors. The IVA will be registered on the insolvency register but will not be published the way bankruptcy is.

IVA details are only published on the Insolvency Service website, nowhere else.

A completion statement will only be sent to your County Court if the Court was involved in the original process. Since April 2010 there has been no need to involve Courts at all with the IVA process unless an Interim Order has been sought.
