Hi was wondering if anyone knows the answer to my question - I work at a Gp practice and have done some overtime at another practice to cover for a few hours whilst their secretary was ill. Can this still be classed as overtime as I am being paid by a different surgeyr for this??

Hi. I would have thought so, this being income over and above your normal salary upon which your I&E was based.

Hi Nicmc. Yes it would be classed as additional income and the 50% modification will apply to this. Your supervisor should be able to work out how much you need to contribute.

Hi nicmc - it doesn't matter who pays the additional income it can still come under your income earned and have the 10+50/50 rule applied if you have that in your proposal.

If you are not covered by the 10% 50/50 rule you may only have to pay a percentage of the 'net' benefit. This means you can claim for the additional costs of such overtime i.e taxis, childcare, extra eating out and for a few hours there would be nothing really left for creditors. I hope you can keep it as it would be unfair to help another surgery out, give up your time and then lose the money to creditors.
