I completed my IVA with RSM Tenon in July 2011 making all my payments. Then I received a letter from them asking for a small payment to bring total payments up to date which I paid immediately which took the company until September 2011 to register. Since then I have had no paperwork at all, when I have rung them I just got told it's a VAT issue. Can anyone advise me how much longer is this likely to go on for and when am I able to begin rebuilding my credit rating?

Hi there and welcome to the forum
No-one can answer that for you here I am afraid. It is a question you must ask of the firm who perhaps hold the answers.

Can anyone tell me how long does a name stay on the insolvency register once an IVA is completed?

It should disappear shortly after you receive your completion certificate.
In my case it was about 3 days after.

Message for JerryLee. The payment was only about £40 and was something to do with the payments increasing during the IVA and the total dividend. I can't remember exactly but it was not an issue. The big issue is getting a completion certificate months after completing the IVA!
