Hi am looking for pet insurance and wondered if it is classed as credit and I would be credit checked. Also any recommendations for cat insurance would be welcome. Thanks.

Probably just credit check you to make sure you live at the address you say, rather than score you. We use pet plan(for the dog) but they can be costly, tesco etc do cover now, have you looked at a comparison site?

Hi

I agree with Paul, you should have no problem paying monthly for the Pet insurance

I always use confused.com, my house insurance with AA was quoting a renewal at over £30 per month, changed using confused.com and found cover for £10 a month.

Hi

You should be fine. I went through a comparison web site last year and got a good deal with More Than at £6 a month for one cat and £8 for the other. Will be looking again soon to re new

You should be fine. We have our parrot insured and have paid monthly whilst in the IVA - never had a problem and were advised there would be a credit check.

Good advice to go through comparison websites - also check out the supermarkets, the cover is normally the same and you may be able to get a gift card back which you could put in a cupboard for a month when funds are short?

I would always recommend anyone in an IVA to take insurance on their precious pets. We would have been heartbroken if we couldn't afford treatment on our parrot (although touch wood we have not had to claim yet) and for the sake of £10 or £20 per month (ours was £22) it's definitely worth it in my opinion. Some of the big insurers have generous no-claim discounts - our 2nd year renewal has just come through with a £4o discount from last years premium.

All three of our dogs are insured and we have never had a problem with monthly insurance.

We use compare the market - Jan loves the meercat toys!

We used Pet Plan for the family fog years Go but they seem quite pricey compared to some of the others. I'd defo recommend insurance to anyone in an iva. It cost me £37 to give the kittens their anti-flea treatment this month as they needed the monthly and quarterly doses.

I've got Harry insured with Argos as they had better cover than Petplan.

BOL, I didn't know you had kittens - I'm jealous! I know how expensive it is - we took Harry for his jabs last week and it was £54. We'd just flea'd and wormed him as well so we've spent a fortune. Luckily we can get the flea treatment online but his worm treatment is prescription only so it doesn't work out any cheaper.

The 'kittens' are actually nearly seven and going grey around the whiskers! So cute though!! Both black and white like yours!

I think cats are always kittens at heart! My Mum's cat was around 17 and she was still having mad moments days before she died.

I'd agree with that! They both get very jealous of one another when they're in the house together so were tearing strips off each other this weekend. Didn't seem so cute with fangs bared and making those awful hissing noises!

Topsy is with Argos and we have just renewed with them, Suzie is with Petplan and is very expensive so we will be looking to change this year and I cannot remember who Lloyd is with - how bad is that?

Pet insurance is an essential expenditure items so far as I am concerned. Do shop around to get the best quotes, but don't compromise on the welfare of your furry friends - they give you much joy and comfort especially on "down" days.
