I am really frustrated and getting nowhere with DebtFreeDirect. I have completed my IVA last summer. My last regular payment was July 2011 and after several chasers I was told that there was a shortfall and that I had to pay a final amount, which I did in January 2012. In March I was then told that all IVA completion certificates were put on hold because of a change in tax laws. Since then there has only been silence and I do not get any response to my emails + the phones are always busy and then they cut you off! I want to start rebuilding my credit file and basically start afresh, which I cannot do without the completion certificate. Who can help?

Hi and welcome to the forum. Frustrating isn't it, you have paid your payments in a timely fashion into the IVA pot and now this is dealying you moving on.
Hopefully Declan will pick up on this and give them a nudge. x

I am in a similar position having made my last payment (72nd) at the end of January 2012.
I have not been delayed with the tax issue but am in limbo while they (Clerdebt in my case) try and claim back miss sold PPI.
If you have not been asked to claim back miss sold PPI then my guess is it is only a matter of time and this will delay your completion certificate my many more months! (my opinion)

This may be stupid, but if the PPI issue causes so much delay in completion, why do these companies not ask for PPI claims to be made DURING your IVA instead of waiting until they complete????

Because they take great joy in causing undue stress on people by making them wait for their completion certificates?
Ok maybe that is not the case but when you are on the receiving end it certainly feels that way!

It just seem ludicrous to me. I thought maybe there was a reason for it???

Hi Dipsy - PPI claims are fairly recent so everyone in an iva at the time the firm decided to pursue claims got their certificates at the same time, unfortunatley this means some people get them at the very end of their ivas.
I have already started a claim and am only half way. It isn't so much that they wait for 'til the last minute on purpose.

Thanks Broke... That answers my question. I was wondering why so many people were having their completion delayed by this but it makes sense now!
