Hi guys, need some advice if possible please. I'm with Grant Thornton and I completed my iva with them on 16th Jan 2012. I received a letter from them confirming that it was completed and I've been patiently waiting the 6 months for my completion certificate. I emailed them dead on the 6 month mark to say that I hadn't received anything yet. I received an email back today stating that for some reason my case hadn't yet been pushed through for finalisation and that my 6 month wait will now start from today's date!!! I've spent the past 6yrs paying for my mistakes and now I'm paying for theirs!
They have said they can send me a letter that I have successfully completed my iva pending finalisation, but can I send this off to the credit agencies to get the iva removed?? Me and my fiancé were planning on getting a joint mortgage and have been waiting and waiting so that I can clear my credit history and start rebuilding it.

We are thinking of going to a solicitor for legal advice, but I'm unsure what to do next.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated xx

Sorry to hear of your frustration. I don't know what to say apart from bug them constantly until they sort it out. Give Karol a mail (a GT representative that posts on here).

There's too many of these stories at present. I have 6 payments to go and then I for one will be emailing them on at least a fortnightly basis until I get visible and positive completion progress.

You need to look carefully at the wording of your IVA but mine has these standard terms:

8 Duration of Arrangement
8(1) [General rule] Unless extended under the provisions of these Conditions, the
Arrangement shall continue until the end of the period stated in the Proposal.
8(2) [Extension of duration by Supervisor] The Supervisor may, if he thinks fit for the purposes of finalising the administration of the Arrangement, extend the duration of the Arrangement by sending a notice to this effect (“an Extension Notice”) to the Debtor and all Creditors. This may be done on up to 2 occasions: for a period of up to 6 months in the first instance and for a period of up to 3 months in the second instance.
8(3) [Extension Notice] An Extension Notice shall be sent not less than 7 days prior to the date upon which the Arrangement is otherwise due to complete and must state the reason or reasons for the extension.
8(4) [Effect of extension] In the event of an Extension Notice being sent, the
Arrangement shall continue for the period specified therein, or for the maximum allowable period for that extension (being 6 months for a first extension and 3 months for a second extension) commencing on the date immediately after that on which the Arrangement would otherwise have been completed, whichever is sooner.


If yours are the same then they should have written to you at least 7 days before the end of your original term to extend it for a further 6 months. It is worth looking at.
