Hi, can anyone help with this? I have finished my IVA and want to get copies of my £2 credit reports from the three credit reference agencies as I want to apply for a current account. However, when I request a copy online, they say that I need to pay with a credit/debit card which is in my name. As I have just come out of an IVA, I am unable to get either a credit or a debit card in my name (not that I want one!). They will not accept payment from another persons card. Has anyone else encountered this and if so, how do I get round it?

Hi Natasha - this sounds crazy as you are in an impossible position. Lets see what others say who have had similar experiences.
You could always go and buy a prepaid creditcard and just put £10 on it then use that to get your report but what a nonsense to have to do that.

Hi Natasha
I tried to help a friend sign up to Noddle recently and she was in the same boat, Noddle who use callcresdit basically said there is 'no way round it' to use their on line service, you may need to ring ezperian and equifax about sending a postal order.

Thanks for your replies. I did get a pre-paid credit card and tried to use that. I thought is would be ok as it is in my name but similarly, they would not accept it!
I will give them a ring and see if thay have any other methods of payment.

I think you're ok with a postal order.

What bank are you currently with that hasn't provided you with a debit card? How do you get to any money paid into your bank?

They need a card to continue your membership after the trial
It's possible the credit card is used as a security precaution to confirm your identity.
The card would need to match what's on your credit report. A pre-paid credit card may not be accepted.
You could call and explain that you don't have a credit/debit card and see what they say.
You may have to revert to the £2 statutory report if you don't have a card for the trial.

Hi, thanks for coming back to me. It is actually the statutory report that I am trying to get hold of, not the ongoing membership but I need a credit/debit card to pay for ir. In answer to youe question herbekj, my bank is Santander. They won't allow me to have an account with a debit card so I just have to use cash. Does anyone know of any banks that allow you to have this facility after IVA?

I filled out the online application for a Nationwide flexaccount, and at the the end it said i was successful and i would receive everything in the post. But this can take up to 14 days, still got 10 to go, so i have fingers crossed it will still be ok

Co-op cash minder, you can manage your bank account on-line and they will allow you a debit card, you can have direct debits, standing orders, pay bills on line, But they won't allow a cheque book.

I was recently offered a free copy of my report from Equifax, just email them and explain your predicament and i'm sure they'll help.

In that case apply by post and send a postal order for £2 giving them 7 working days to send you your report.
