I have spent most of today reading about the pro's and con's of IVA's. But when it came to calling someone off the internet I hesitated and halted!.

My credit records shot, I know that much, i can't go bankcrupt because i'm now a director, but i'm still unsure if its the right thing to do.

My main concerns are

That I can't afford the monthly figure and get made bankcrupt.

That it adversly effects my partners credit who is a student and dependant on me.

That if I build the business up, all my gains will have to go into the IVA, would it be better to offer a set amount myself outside of a IVA.

Im determined to get out of this mess, and start again now i'm much wiser, but getting there seems impossible.

you need to phone up 2 or 3 company's, someone wil be along with the link and its all free, do not pay for a company to put you in touch with a ip.

You really do need to sit down and talk to an IVA company to make sure that your future will not be compromised by entering an IVA. Melanie Giles is very well respected and a great contributor to the forum, give her a call and discuss any concerns you have. You can get her details from the 'ask an expert' list on the left pane. Good luck.

Hi

The first call is the hardest, after that you will feel like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders.

Speak with several experts/companies and explore all options

I ran a ltd company before my IVA, through an IVA, and out the otherside and still run it. (I take as a director it's a ltd Co)

The ltd company is its own legal entity to a very large degree and is somewhat at arms length of an IVA, I'll let you figure the rest out!

Melanie and Michael Peoples are both sound ports of call

I can only repeat Sponges advice, the two company names he mentions should be your first port of call. I was like you and bottled making the first phone call so sent a query via Ask a Question on the right and they rang me!!! It was the best thing I ever did. Remember, we are always here should you need your hand holding xx

Hi and welcome at least you're doing your homework as I did and that way you'll end up with a debt solution most suited to your needs. I do agree the first call is the hardest for myself I thought I was the only person in debt!!! Obviously I was wrong and after speaking to 2 or 3 companies I decided on working with Melanie Giles to find my way to debt freedom and the time has flown and I'll soon be there!

Do speak to 2 or 3 to ensure case specific impartial advice.

All the best and do ask anything else you need as we're always here to support you along with lots of professionals to hand to offer that expert advice.
