I hope you are all ok after the mugging we have experienced ?? I am talking about the amazing increase in bills the engery firms have forced on us.
I feel we are all left to suffer with the goverment doing nothing about it, why should they as this will only curtail the huge amounts they make from the energy firms.
Time to think about emigrating to a country where its population are not ripped off at all points.

It is incredible to see how fuel prices have risen over the last 10 years. 10 years ago I was paying around £60 per month for electricity and gas - now my standing orders total £320 per month. Outrageous!

Could not agree more, I am not one for direct action but if we started marching on this I would be in the front line. Enough is enough.

I have been on duel fuel fixed price tariffs with British Gas for as long as I can remember. My last fixed price expired at the end of September 2012 and I was offered a further fixed price to May 2014. The deal was I pay 8.8% above the Clear and Simple tariff as at May 2012. I snatched their hands off. I simply looked at the history of fuel prices. A no brainer. Now I am only 2.8% above the tariff and I expect further increase between now and May 2014. So I expect in the long run I will be better off.

BG was 6% not 8% as so inaccurately reported in advance in the press

We're on a fixed tariff with BG until March 2013. If they offer us another fixed tariff then we will definitely go for it.

I always change suppliers on an annual basis using a price comparison website with a fixed deal. At least you know where you stand.
The energy firms have carte blanche. I`m a firm believer in nationalisation of utilities - we are now suffering for the Thatcher years.

It's always us that suffer isn't it?
I change regularly too as loyalty gets me nowhere, I just want cheapest. x

I feel sorry for pensioners who only have the state pension, at least many of us are working and are out of the house many hours of the week so don't need to use heating/electric whilst at work, I can't begin to imagine how the elderly must feel facing these hikes every single winter

My parents are very elderly and do manage. We have tried to get them to change but there is no way they would go through the hassle even though we would sort it for them.
They can manage with all of the help they get from DWP.
