Iva complete and dropped off credit reports. However, Equifax decided to add a manual entry as follows:

iVA dated 16/10/2006 was removed from the Insolvency Service records on 22/08/2012. Added by IVABKYLD on 22/08/2012.

After quite a heated discussion on the phone, they removed the notice. Something to be very mindful of and something I am going to raise in writing to them!

Cheers

Christine

I somehow missed when checking previously! Sounds like it's standard practice, so wanted to share with everyone :-)

I posted about this the other week - I was shocked when I found it on my file! I raised an online request for them to cancel it and then phoned the number someone posted on here and got through to a UK call centre who removed it straight away.

I hate Equifax - they are also very slow to update credit files.

Hi

Yes this seems to be the norm now

Personally I would not send anything to the CR agencies, just allow the six year rule to tidy up your credit file if you can

Thanks Andy but the six year rule had past. My IVA was complete in October 2011. The six year rule would be Oct 2012 but the note was still showing on my file today, 3 months after.

Cheers

If there is a notice of correction you have to ask the credit agency to remove it as it won't drop off after 6 years - it's on file until you request the removal.

Agreed Skippy. The IVA has automatically dropped off but the notice of correction will still be on your file in full view of potential lenders. Just a bit annoying when you've done everything right, want to move forward with a nice clean credit file and they sneakily stitch you up :-(

Especially, when they choose to add the note AFTER the IVA is complete and about to drop of your credit report. I.e. just 2 months before the 6 year period.

It's not that I want to take out credit, no way, I just want my file to look at it's best. I may be being a bit emotive, but it means a lot after working so hard to complete IVA.

Apologies for edits, my spell checker is doing crazy things ;-)

Compromising an individual's finances when they have fulfilled all legally agreed requirements feels unethical to me. Anyway, rant over now, I promise.

Don't worry about the rant, I've done plenty of that about Equifax and Capital One recently!

Grr, just paid my £2 and found that notice of correction. Thanks for the headups. Now to get it removed.

Herbekj just call 0844 355 0550 and ask to get it removed. They'll try to fob you off with the on line option but their website is horrendous to navigate through. Just say you want it removed now and be firm. As Skippy said, you'll get transferred to UK call centre who will remove it for you there and then. Xx
