Ive started doing a bit of dog sitting in my local area for people who know me and my dog, and its been suggested i should get insured, but when I get a quote, the question always comes up: have I been declared bankrupt or in an IVA (Im 3 years int my IVA). What does this have to do with an insurance quote and why is it a potential barrier? All Im trying to do is earn a bit of extra money but Im not daft enough to leave myself open to trouble if anything goes wrong and I have no insurance in place!

Hi cathy
There are quite a few posters on here with pets & insurance so I'm sure on will be along to help soon.
When been asked about Bankruptcy the answer is no, but I've not heard of them asking about IVAs.
I've no pets but had no problems with car & home contents insurance.

It is a disgrace - especially when you are not asking for credit.

Reading this makes me so cross, but getting public liability insurance clearly hasn't improved for people in IVA's.
I did manage it via the AA when i was in an IVA although i know others didn't....worth shopping around for

Public liability insurance is often discussed on here and I'll search and see if I can find some links for you.

Hope these might be of some assistance, past posts which helped others. Not sure if they're outdated now though but worth a look. x
