GT and Karol are complete liars. Still we have non of the improvements promised last May and we never will. It was anothrr GT fob off.
I have been waiting over 6 months and reported them to the FSO. I sudgest you do the same.
It has nothing to do with VAT and everything to do with PPI.
EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NEVER BEEN MISSOLD ANY PPI.
I instructed GT that i wanted no ppi claims but they are doing it anyway. It was admited to me by a GT advisor.
This company is investigated more than any other. Avoid like a plague. Change to someone else if you can.
To claim ppi's falsely is fraud, yet they do it anyway and make clients wait for up to and over a year for a certificate of completion.
I can't wait for more GT lies in response to this.......If they dare.

They are saying you have to go though the process even if you are sure you have never had PPI or you won't get closure. I don't know if all companies are doing this? I thought there would be news soon about being able to get closure before PPI claims are settled?

The problem lies in the actual term mis-sold ppi.
Its not as simple as saying you had none,or you wanted it. Many policies would not have paid out in event of a claim. For example my brother an NHS charge nurse had ppi on several loans which promised to pay out if he was off sick for 3 months or more, but as an NHS worker he gets full pay for the 1st 6 months he is off sick, nullifying the ppi paying out after 3 months, meaning it was a mis-sold policy.
An IP has the right to investigate claims whether you believe there are any or not.
I suggest you simply comply with any action GT take,if there are no ppi claims to settle then fine but dont try to stop them doing their job.
GT is getting bad press on here of late and rightly so in many cases as their customer service dept appear to be non existent but you will find many posters have managed to get somewhere through Karols interventions so probably a bit much to bad mouth her directly on the forum.
Remember that
www.iva.com is a review site where you can leave feedback on your chosen firm.
Oh and its not just GT that has clients dangling waiting for a completion certificate.

To go to Karols defence, I have found her truthful and a great asset on here. I think it's wrong to call her that, it should be directed at GT and not her. With PPI I sorry to say that even if you didnt take on PPI a lot of Banks and Loan companies put PPI on your accounts without you knowing it. A friend at work just got £5000 back and he never ever took PPI. Its' one of the reasons this country is in the mess it's in. They are the liars. You cant blame IVA companies going down the line of claiming on your behalf as we all had debt!!!! And they want to give some money to our creditors as well as them. I hope you get your CC stick in there it's worth it in the end. But please dont blame Karol she is the only one at GT that helps us on here!!!![:)][:)]

Hello Anarchy, and welcome. For a first post that's a bit of a blisterer !!!
Totally unfounded and misplaces allegations. I agree with Plasticdaft's post. As a relatively new visitor, you will be unaware of past dealings with Karol and / or GT, for that matter. Karol is worth her weight in gold, and then some, for the assistance she has afforded members in the past.
GT have never been the fastest horse in the race, and, yes, have been clumsy, to say the least, of late in dealing with the horrors that have beset the WHOLE industry, not just GT : Paymex/ VAT and PPI being the latest. But, until beset with these problems ( some admittedly of their own making) they were well respected and had / still have, many happy clients. Today's problems all seem to centre around closures and have no bearing on the general conduct of cases.
Regarding PPI, you are in no position to "instruct" GT. They have a duty to investigate potential assets. The FSO cannot reprimand them for doing their duty ( even if it was in their jurisdiction ).

by 12 months to go
personally i think the problem lies fairly and sqaurely with GT
its MY opinion, they have become that swamped down investigating / pursuing PPI claims and havnt increased their head count enough to deal with itand therefore are grinding to a halt.
I must point out I have no experience of GT, other than the many posts of identical content I read on a weekly basis on the forum; my personal experience was with DFD
it certainly seems currently that GT & DFD are not suitable organisations to recommend, although when the current PPI debacle has ended, they may revert back to being the good organisations they hitherto where; that is unless foced secured loans in lieu of equity is what replaces PPI .....

I think the biggest problem is the lack of accurate information being passed on to the person in the IVA. If something is going to take 12 months to sort out, then say its going to take 12 months, dont keep fobbing people off with a variety of excuses, just tell them the truth. At least if you know when things will get sorted out you can deal with it, rather than endless ifs, buts, and maybes.

Hi
Having spoke to GT Friday I just want to try and defend them a little, although I have been vocal in my criticism recently[and rightly so]
They are shortly going to make a statement on the forum but have been working hard in the background to bring closure to peoples IVAs, they have taken on several large books of IVAs over recent times and this has caused, in my opinion, a logistical nightmare for them. True it should not impact on the client in the IVA but it has, pure and simple
I really hope that they can step up to the mark and deliver a far better customer service going forward because i do know that this is very important to then and that they take any negative comments on the forum very seriously
Regards

Them taking on large books of IVA's will have impacted on their profit as well no doubt and as you say Andy,it shouldnt impact on consumers.
The statement is going to have to be a real doozey to impress people!!!

I am pleased to hear this, Andy, but, as I have said numerous times, all of this beavering away
behind closed doors is no ongoing comfort to clients caught in the trap. GT should, at the very least, have responded pro-actively to concerns at the time these were aired. Even a simple "We hear you and are doing something about it" would have been better than the stonewalled silence. All of the dithering and often conflicting excuses being offered do their reputation no favours.
I really do hope they can get back on track and regain their place as a well respected and
caring company.

I might add that the vast majority of recent complaints have been to do with closures, caused by mis-handling aquisitions, Paymex and PPI, in quick, and unfortunate, succession.
I don't recall many complaints about the way GT conduct cases, day to day. Indeed, the way they have conducted mine recently, through these troubles, has been exemplary.

I totally agree that a reply to an email or a response to a forum post would have put their clients minds at rest.. It's good they're going to make an announcement shortly but in the interim they really do need to contact their unhappy clients even with a generic response just to show that they're not being ignored. My opinion to be ignored is the worst thing.

15% of any mis-sold PPI claim going to your IP must be the single biggest driver that they need to thoroughly "investigate" if you had indeed been mis-sold PPI.
Perhaps a fairer solution is that Creditors could agree to a set fee say of £500 for the IP to engage and oversee a claims managment company.
That way the IP is financially rewarded for their time and there can be no accusations of them pursuing the claims for their own benifit.
Just a thought!

Grant Thornton making a statement on the Forum is a cop-out. We are all individual debtors with our own real concerns. Some of us have been waiting twice as long as others, well over the court agreed timeframe, yet they don't answer our emails or written complaints. (Including to Karol).
If and when the "statement" comes it will create numerous questions and worries about our individual circumstances. Issuing a blanket statement on a Forum is a dismissive and contemptuous disregard for their customers, creditors and debtors alike!...
It's interesting to see how moderate posters are when they have their certificate. One of those above was received after 7 months, not too unreasonable perhaps but 13 months and longer is ridiculous and I can understand why there is such a mood of anger and despair by a number of posters.
Incidentally the poster closed after 7 months made their last payment 3 months after me yet had their cc in November. Where is the logic in that?

Hi anarchy74. Welcome to the forum. At the risk of sounding like a broken record - my reponse to posts such as yours is the same. It's the fundamental lack of and/or poor communication by several companies that's driving us to the absolute limit. The process is not open or transparent. They tell you what they like when they like. Its OUR IVA, yet once we have finished/settled, its completely taken out of our hands whilst they sit on theirs doing jack all. The latter is probably not the case, but that's how it feels when you are told NOTHING!! Its a travesty and I for one is p****d off with the whole sorry matter. How can they justify not been open, clear and timely with their communication?? the bottom line is - WE JUST WANT TO KNOW!!
