Hi if I claim money back for washing work clothes is this classed as a windfall ? I can claim back from 2008 not sure how much I will get yet they said I just need to write to them, thanks

Hi, I'm not sure about this. I have been claiming this for my husband for a long time so not had a refund as such, they just amended tax code. Be worth a word with your IP in the first instance.

Think I have missed something here....hubby has had a uniform since Sept 2007 and I have merrily been washing them without realising you can claim !!! Tell me more !!

luluj.you get more allowance if its civil service etc,,police nurse etc,,go to the Martin Lewis website, he gives the tax office address to claim,,mine was done in about 5 wks,,

try that Luluj. My hubby buys his own tools too for his job so we do tend to claim for everything.

Yes if his work clothes have the name of the company he works for on it or the logo he can claim money back for washing them at home I didn't know either till me work mate told me

Also you can claim from 2008 to now then your tax code will change
