Do i want to open a can of worms maybe yes. why cant there be a company out there where we can take an iva company or adviser to claim back fees ? My reasoning is after 5 years you clear your debt wait another year and it drops off but will stay with you for the rest of your life. ok i hear you say you can get credit but not by the high street banks and at a higher rate. i have a negative opinion of an iva and couldn't and wouldn't advice anybody to enter into one.and before you judge me my debt was living not living a life of luxury needing money to eat earning low wages etc. worked hard to climb a ladder earning good money but stuck in a rented house unable to get on the housing market. the reason for my negative feeling i clearly remember being told its the best way forward after 6 years you get a fresh start well it certainly doesn't feel like now.

Hi. Many of our posters, out the other end, are getting high street deals at regular rates --- like all defaults -- the longer you wait the better it gets.

went to my bank today and was informed that if you have entered into BR or an iva you had zero chance of getting a mortgage. they asked us who was the debt with and was basically said i know they have the same policy. also if i leave it much longer age will be against me.

Some banks have a policy that they will not lend for 6 years post IVA --- but we have had several posters recently get mortgages -- at least one on the high street.

Have a word with Ryan on the forum -- he has helped quite a few.

The mortgage market isn't just difficult for us "unclean" even "normal" borrowers are having a hard time, I hear.

There is life after IVA given time. Lots of our posters have moved forward. Ryan has helped a few posters with a mortgage why not have a word?
