Hi All,
I completed my IVA some 12 months ago, I have now received a letter from the department for work and pensions saying I owe £702 from 2003!!, I did not know about this debt so was not covered by the IVA, where do I stand regarding this debt?
Many thanks

Hi Omegadjinn. Welcome to the forum. If they are claiming it then they should know how it's accrued, so you are fully entitled to ask them for evidence of this. CAB are excellent at dealing with such matters, so it might be worth a call/appointment with them if you want to dispute it - especially after 10 years!! Good luck. x

I would give the DWP a call in the morning and ask what it is all about, they are usually quite good at discussing things and even have the authority to clear past debts.
I would tell them that since 2003 you have been through an IVA and had the debt been known then it would have been included and sorted out and that you don't have that sort of money, its worth laying it on hard to try and get it cancelled..
