Hello I have an appointment with the natwest on saturday to open a bank account.firstly should I tell them up front going for an iva. also was going to open their fee paying account this is whst I have currently with my bank as I use the car breakdown and phone cover. I dont want to open one and then find they close it. would look suspicious at work keeping changing bank set ups.

I would not advise telling the bank about your impending IVA, and there is no requirement to do so. If you do, they may limit you to their basic account, or worse, refuse to offer you banking facilities.
Good luck.

Just to mention, once your IVA starts they may refuse you a fee paying account and make you use a 'basic' one with no over draft, chequq book or perks etc, thats what happens with rbs which is linked to natwest.

I changed to Natwest when starting out on the IVA journey, have a basic account with debit card and cheque book, no overdraft, Had no problems with them at all, the D/D goes out from account to IVA company so they must be aware we are in an IVA,had not contact from them at all really other than standard junk mail. Was a bit wobbly when the debit cards were due to expire after first three years, but they can a month early with no problems, the next time they need renewedwe will be IVA free hopefully! It is funny what you worry about in this situation! Good luck x

Hi
No need to tell them as you are not actually in an IVA yet
Good luck with the application

Natwest are part of Royal Bank of Scotland so if you have any debts with RBS you should avoid Natwest.
