Hi all, just a quick question.
Our IVA was accepted on the 7th March, but yesterday I received a letter from one of my creditors (that voted yes to our proposal) saying they were about to sell the debt onto a debt recovery company and that we must pay the outstanding payments or we may have someone visit our home to recover it. I hope this is just a scare tactic but now I am worried someone will turn up at our house asking for money and I am scared of opening the door! So it has worked.
I am about to sign and post back the chairman's report so would you recommend me posting this letter back with it so that my IVA company can deal with them?
I have also received a couple of standard less threatening letters from other creditors requesting the minimum payment but I hope that's just from an automated system.
On a good note I did receive a letter from Barclaycard a few days after the meeting saying that "Don't worry, this is not a payment request" and they will no longer contact me except for sending yearly statements. Why can't all creditors be like this? Surely us IVA'ers should be on a seperate 'do not contact' list?
I know it's just a letter but after having the relief of not getting any more constant phone calls and no longer dreading the postman's arrival, and having finally done something positive about our debt, I felt a bit rubbish when I read the letter.
Thanks
Sarah

Just send it back with Chairman's report and your IP will deal with it. You've probably just got a letter from the collections department who haven't spoken with the insolvency department and their internal records are not up to date. It's nothing to be concerned about. You're untouchable as far as your creditors are concerned!

You can safely ignore the letter as it is included in your IVA but send it in to your IP anyway so they are aware that the debt is too be sold as any dividends do need to be paid to the correct owner of the debt just in case.
If the new owner is say Max Recovery you'll probably get yearly letters much the same as Barclaycards. No problem with those.

Thanks very much

I hoped it'd be a case of departments not talking to eachother, I just hope the letters don't keep coming!
Also, as I cannot contact my IP or even a particular supervisor directly (I just have a general customer services 0800 number that is 20p a minute from my mobile which I refuse to ring as it's made my last phone bill high) I am worried that paperwork and queries etc will get lost. We sent our bank details so that they could set up a direct debit which has been done but as we have to pay 50% of our bonus in quarterly, and I don't have their bank details to send them to, I assume I'm going to have to make another expensive phone call to find this out.
I actually had an 0161 number to call them on when I was first referred to them and an email address and a specific case worker to contact. Now, after having since contacted said case worker with a few queries, I am told that because I am actually in an IVA with them that I just have to contact the general customer service number and get passed around - I'm sure this is the wrong way around! I just hope this is a smooth ride and I have no need to contact them. They also want us to send them our wage slips quarterly, not just at the annual review, so I hope they will accept a screen shot emailed across as I now sort of begrudge spending any more money than I really must to contact them.
Oh how I wish I had 'shopped around' for IP's!

It takes a while for it to filter through but it will stop eventually. In the meantime ask your IP to deal with them or just tell them straight you're in an IVA. x

I have actually had more letters since my IVA was accepted, I just send them to IP and forget about them

We got those letters too shortly after approval. Take Robbieboys advice - send to the IP and forget about them.

If you have email provision i would encourage communication by email as much as possible ..audit trail of conversations and free! When sending anything by post consider sending it by recorded delivery ...yes i know it is more money but it provides assurance of delivery . If you do need to ring then when you are through on he phone ask them to ring you back ....they should !

Just browsing around their website looking for an email address and found an 0161 number! The lady I spoke to specifically told me there was no 0161 number that I could call, and she works for them! Blimey

once my iva was accepted and i knew i was protected by it i used to just shred and bin them, thats what my ip said she would o with them if i forwarded them to her. they do stop eventually once the information filters through to all departments concerned, although i understand stressful and worrying at the time.
