Hi mariella! By all accounts obtaining a reasonable interest mortgage will take some time as lenders currently do not look favourably at people who have ever been in an IVA! Try Ryan on this forum who is a mortgage advisor! With regards to a better account you may be wise to start building up a credit history with a mobile contract or low limit credit card such as capital one or vanquis! Your credit files should be clean 6 years following commencement of your IVA so apply to check your credit file to make sure it is accurate! If not it may affect your ability to obtain credit! Good luck! :)

Hi, I would say it depends on your circumstances. We were in an iva for 6 years which dropped off my credit in feb and in feb we obtained 2 mortgages in principal, I know these are not full offers yet but we met with the house builder yesterday and they are hoping to have contracts ready in 10 days so hopefully I will be able to update with more info in a couple of weeks about if we get a full offer

It isn't impossible to get a mortgage but everyones circumstances differ so it is best to speak to a mortgage broker who has experience of helping people in our situations...Ryan does come highly recommended and has successfully helped a number of forum members in the last two years....we also have another broker on the forum called Shaun.
Both their details can be found on the left hand side under the ask the experts a question link.
