Hi Jan.21 and welcome, Unfortunately this is the normal timescale, however there are quite a few GT clients on this forum that have been waiting up to two years and still have no completion certificate.
A lot depends on PPI claims etc. So be prepared for a wait.

If you get your certificate in 7 months that would be fantastic. Many of us on here have waited three times that . My last payment made in may 2011 and still no certificate,

The only way to speed it up would be to ensure you comply with any requests they ask for ppi reclaims, but yes have a read through the forum you will see many people have been waiting a long long time for completion certificates from gt

Errmm don't forget that over 1000 PPI cases a day are now being referred to the FOS to be dealt with and they can take up to 18 months, so being compliant, well with those timescales I’m not convinced!

In theory, if you have agreed to PPI investigations and signed the mass variation paperwork it should all happen within the 7 months. But this is GT. So, I would suggest that you ask them to break down the different steps in the closure process with approximate timings. Often the biggest step with GT seems to be actually having your account passed to the closure team. Best of luck.

I've only been waiting nearly 9 months so far and feel there is a way to go....

Can't believe that after 5 years it is likely to have to wait at least 7 months before this is sorted. This leaves you in limbo and there is nothing that can be done
