Credit score following IVA completion. Hi i currently have a credit score in the 300's following having a IVA which the six years are up in May 2013. Following this and getting the final coupld of defaults off our record will our credit score increase much or will the IVA stay on record after 6 year? Thanks

Hi the IVA should come off after the 6 year anniversary but do keep an eye on this and experian (I think) sometimes record it on there until you request its removal. x

My understanding is you will see an increase in credit soring once all mark of the IVA is removed however it may continue to prove difficult to gain credit as banks etc who were previously creditors maintain their own records for years . Mine should clear by the end of 2013 so it will be interesting to see what happens too !

Mine was up in the 900s as soon as all the defaults fell off. I think it was 990 something and the we had two searches done for mortgages and it went to 969

by 12 months to go
morning CB3
July last year was the 6 years mark of my IVA . At this time my score was 230 !! consider though at this time all the defaults had dropped off, just IVA record remaining, until completion certificate was sent to the Insolvency serviceon 1st November. a few weeks later once the CRAs had all updated, my score rocketed to 980 - YIPPEE
since then my bank upgraded my account from a basic account with debit card that could only be used in the uk, to a full standard account with a full debit card hat can be used worldwied.
I refused the offer of an overdraft , but did take a credit card ONLY to be used as back up later this year when abroad on holiday. I do sometimes look at it and think of cutting it up , but i do not take it out with me & in all honesty am somewhat scared about using it.
not long for you now, but the one advantage of any ppi delay issues for forum members awaiting a completion certificate, is that if there are any straggling defaults on your credit file, then hopefully they should have taken care of themselves by the time your certificate is issued
I subscribed to checkmyfile.com which costs £7.99 a month and you get your credit file from all 3 CRAa , namely Experian , Equifax & Callcredit. this enables you to view all 3 agencies records on you and therefore hunt out anything that may need attention

Has anyone bothered to check their credit rating while in an IVA?
I chanced getting a mobile phone for my daughter for Christmas and I was amazed I got accepted.

I'm pleased I got it in all honesty. No way could I afford to keep topping up her PAYG mobile.
I wonder if it scores me credit brownie points during my IVA?

Yes, the "green ticks" during the IVA will all help build you a good credit history

I was reading it does not matter on a monthly basis up/or down a few points, your credit score needs to be 700+ for regular high street lending, this will happen post IVA just post six years when you CR's are clean, expect to see yourself in the 900+ (mine went from jack all, to all right jack)...982/1000

February 2014 for me it should come off and then I'll look deep to make sure all is ok. At the minute just look at Noddle intermittently.

I think that's what you call being in the IVA no-mans land!

Yes it does feel like that it's finished but waiting for certificate and although I'm desperate to come off the register, once that is done I can do no more until Feb 14.

Lesley's right ...until the 6th anniversary it is pointless worrying and checking it ....September 2013 will soon be here and I hopefully will see a big difference !!!
