I paid my final iva payment back in Jan 2012. Grant Thornton have been messing me about and i still don't have my completion certificate. My question is will this effect how long the iva stays on my credit file ? It's already over 6 yrs now but i'm guessing it will still be on there as GT have still not completed it ???

Hi

I think it should be off your credit file after the six year mark, you need to check with the credit reference agencies.

You will still be on the online insolvency register until your completion certificate is ussued

I am also awaiting my completion certificate and the 6 year anniversary is rapidly approaching, I am waiting to upgrade my bank account and thought I would have to wait until I had received my certificate as it would still show on my credit file, is this then not the case?

My understanding is that it will stay on your file, after the 6 year mark, until that completion certificate is issued, as, until that time, it is still active.

This makes a mockery of IVA's people are being mislead as clearly the IVA process can go on for many years after payments are finished. Nobody is ever told this at the begining.

Exactly my thoughts. Also means its even more damaging when useless companies like Grant Thornton take 16months and counting to complete closure !!

I am in the same situation waiting for GT to complete closure.

It's an absolute farce, I for one would have gone bankrupt from the outset had I known I would have ended up in this situation. Life on hold, can't do anything about it, completly fed up. If I could just leave the country and leave this whole sorry mess behind I would and to hell with my creditors!

Evening everybody

Foggy is correct and i say this from personal experience; the IVA stayed on my credit file past the 6 years mark , until my completion certificate was issued on 1st November & even then , there was one CRA that I had to contact , but in fairness once I emailed them my certificate they actioned this the same day

good luck , it very much depends who your IVA is with as to the progress of issuing the completion certificate unfortunately
